2024 Spring Spruce Up!

Join us on May 4th between 10am-2pm for our annual Spring Spruce Up! Many hands make light work, and we would appreciate Members and Volunteers to come and help us get the Manor and grounds in tip-top shape for the busy summer months. A brief task list is below, but there will be more work to be had so don’t feel like you can’t come help out if any of the tasks aren’t in your skill wheelhouse. Materials and equipment will be provided, but feel free to bring your own garden equipment, gloves, etc. if you prefer.

MANOR AND YARDS
Manor Yard – rake flower beds, trim weeds next to house, etc.
Carriage House Exterior – trim weeds, particularly on right side
Interior Storms – remove and store for the public rooms where windows will be opened
Sweep and wash Manor Floors
Stain the South Verandah floor – with stain that matches West Porch
Dusting throughout Manor
Clean folding chairs and tables

AROUND THE ESTATE
Stain the Boardwalk
Trail Maintenance – have 3-4 people walk all trails and cut back overhanging limbs, brush, etc.
Touch up the green gates with green enamel paint
Tackle some of the dead wood piles up and down the road
Pick up any trash along the access drive
Walk length of Stone Wall on Grove Street – remove overgrowth and clean up edge
Main Brooks Estate Sign on Grove Street – remove overgrowth and clean up edge
